Hi Everyone, here is a message from Bahman, the UofO SEEDS president. I hope you can join us on Thursday for some fun skating on the canal!
A highlight of winter in Ottawa is the Rideau Canal Skateway, the world’s largest skating rink. Now that the entire length of the canal is open to skaters, it would be hard to resist the temptation of not only skating, but also eating beavertails, chatting and drinking hot chocolate!!!
The Society of Environmental Engineering, Development, management, and Science (SEEDS) would like to invite you to its first outdoor winter activity of 2012 “Skating on the Rideau Canal” which is set to take place on Thursday February 9th between 6-8pm. We will start skating from the Mackenzie King bridge skate rental station (so, even if you do not have skates you can still rent some and have fun!). After skating for about 1.2 km, we will take a break at the resting area closest to Fifth Avenue to enjoy beavertails and hot drinks. As of today, the ice conditions for that portion of the canal are good. Walkers are also welcomed if you don’t feel like traveling on blades. Don’t be shy, grab your skates and experience the Capital tradition of skating on the Rideau Canal!
