Tour the ROPEC wastewater treatment plant this weekend.

This weekend is Doors Open Ottawa where residents get the chance to take a peek inside Ottawa’s most exciting buildings. One of these buildings that you can visit is the Robert O. Pickard Environmental Centre wastewater treatment plant, aka ROPEC. There will be tours of the facility and plant by staff will be on hand to explain the treatment processes and answer questions. I’ve seen a couple of water treatment plants in the past years as part of Doors Open Ottawa and I really like the experience. It’s nice to see the application of the concepts you learn in class (or will be learning).

Check out this picture of me in 2009 at the Brittannia Water Treatment Plant during Doors Open Water. We were lucky enough to see the filter being backwashed. 😉
