YEP (Young Environmental Professionals) sent around a list of exciting upcoming events. The events are listed on their events page, but in brief, they are:
- Green Expo, March 19 & 20
The Ottawa Green Expo is the first of it’s kind in Ottawa! This exciting, 2 day event features hundreds of exhibitors, all dedicated to providing information, products and services that can help you live a greener lifestyle! With everything from home and garden ideas, eco-friendly food and clothing, transportation options, organic food and cooking, to guest speakers and interactive displays the Ottawa Green Expo offers many simple ways of going green and helping our environment!
- THE CHAMPIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY SPEAKER SERIES, Wednesday March 16.
This event is part of a unique series in the National Capital Region that features world-renowned speakers on themes of timely interest to sustainability visionaries. This event, though far from free (~30$ for students), features Bob Willard presenting “The Next Sustainability Wave: Building Buy-In and the Business Case” giving a very interesting talk following a networking session.
- GET CRAFTY with CPAWS-OV and Wabi Sabi
The Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-OV) and Wabi Sabi are partnering for a unique Earth Day 2011 event to raise awareness about the Ontario wilderness and the need to protect it. CPAWS-OV and Wabi-Sabi are calling on local crafters of all skill levels to create a creature for Wabi-Sabi’s wilderness-themed window display. Everyone is welcome to participate (all ages! all skill levels!), and you can knit, felt, sew or weave your favourite animal, plant, bug – or even fungi! Participants are asked to lend their critter to Wabi-Sabi for the month of April for the window display, and everyone is invited to the Earth Day Celebration at Wabi-Sabi (1078 Wellington St. W.) on Friday, April 22.
