SEEDS Skating

It’s time to enjoy one of Ottawa’s best attractions: the Rideau Canal Skateway!! Now that the entire length of the canal is open to skaters and Winterlude has kicked off, it would be hard to resist the temptations of an event combining skating, chatting, hot chocolate and ice sculptures.

Since not all of us are fancy skaters, this event will have 2 legs; the first part of which can be enjoyed by everyone.

The first leg will involve only a little skating and a lot of chatting and drinking hot chocolate (eating beavertails is optional). The starting point will be the Hartwell Locks entrance to the canal. After skating for about 800 m, we will have a hot chocolate break at the Dow’s Lake resting area. So, even those of you who don’t feel like swans on their skates can join us for this part (walkers are also welcomed).

The second leg will involve a lot of skating (from Dow’s Lake all the way to the Confederation Park) and a tour of the ice sculptures. This will be more appealing to the adventurous skaters amongst us.

Don’t be shy, invite your friends along for some fun! Please join us!
