Yesterday a group of enthusiastic students and some very helpful industry professionals gathered to discuss the Alberta oil sands. In the morning, the students got to hear a little about the Clark hot water process, the main issues surrounding the mining of the oil sands and got a chance to ask any questions they might have. In the afternoon, after a hefty chili lunch, the students broke into teams and got to work! The aim is to participating in the Environmental Challenge International in Calgary as part of the 103rd A&WMA National Conference (June 22-25).
Submissions are due at MIDNIGHT tonight and can be send to: SEEDS@engsoc.org
A big THANK YOU goes to our partners the Ottawa Valley Chapter of the AWMA, our industry volunteers, to Bridgehead (for supplying the coffee) and to Farm Boy (for allowing us to purchase the supplies for the chili).
